(Jason Merritt/Getty Images North America)With the first of the really big award shows already under our belts, we've started to notice some trends a-brewing on the red carpet. From chic bobs to classic buns, red lips to metallic eyes, we've rounded up the top six hair and makeup trends we spotted on last night's carpet.

1. Short and Sweet

Everyone from Pamela Anderson to Jennifer Lawrence chopped off her hair. But we can't help but wonder, is 2014 the year of the bob? It seemed like everyone who's anyone was sporting the short 'do. From Elisabeth Moss's wavy bob to Reese Witherspoon's sleek, angled cut, we're digging this new hair trend.

2. Buns on Buns

And apparently, it's Hollywood's as well! Whether they're sleek and shellacked or loose and voluminous, buns were all the rage at the Golden Globes. Looks like our daily hair-go-to just got a red carpet upgrade.

3. Side Swept

4. Fifty Shades of Red

We spotted a number of celebs sporting a beautiful ruby red lip. Break out your favorite tube of red, ladies. Looks like a bright lip isn't going anywhere anytime soon!

5. Nearly Naked

Nude lipstick and fleshy cheeks were also a big trend on the carpet last night. Get this look at home with a flesh-toned lipstick and a touch of matte powder.

6. Shine On

It was the eyes that grabbed our attention last night. Rich silver metallics caught our eyes. From Kate Mara's sultry smoky eye, to Jennifer Lawrence's silver shimmer, metallics stole the show.
