Nicole Richie has come a long way since her days as Paris Hilton's sidekick. With her reality TV days behind her, Nicole has successfully created quite a cushy retail empire.
Her line House of Harlow 1960 began as a jewelry collection, but has since expanded to include sunglasses and shoes. Now, Nicole is adding another notch to her fashion belt with the release of her first batch of handbags.
The 14-piece collection hits stores this fall and includes an array of clutches, cross-body bags and hobos the exude Nicole's bohemian glam style. Prices are moderate to high, ranging from $150 for a crocodile printed clutch to $625 for a pony hair hobo. For the brand, bags "have always been a part of the equation," but Nicole wanted to ensure everything was aligned and "that each piece is special." Nicole says:
When I design, I always try to design pieces that are universal, meaning anyone can wear and carry it. At this stage of my design process, I really try to gather direct feedback from my customers, whether through in-store personal appearances, my Web site, Twitter or Facebook. It really helps me when they provide me with their desires, feedback and comments on what they are looking for, so I can try my best to cater to their needs, yet stay true to the brand’s identity.
