Skip The Nightcaps
Dr. Dawn Dore-Stites, Reverie Sleep Advisory Board Member and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Sleep Disorder Center at Michigan Medicine (University of Michigan) says alcohol may help you feel drowsy, but it actually negatively affects how you sleep. Specifically, alcohol affects how you cycle through sleep, so in the end, your night cap is compromising the quality of sleep you get. Try sticking to herbal tea or warm milk to ease you into sleep.
