Vintage e-tailer ModCloth recently added a new feature to its iOS app: Fit for Me allows users to enter in their measurements to filter products tailored to their body types. The website, which was founded by high school sweethearts Eric and Susan Kroger, takes the social approach to shopping, thus creating a sense of community and trust.

By turning e-commerce into a social media platform, ModCloth creates a unique, technologically advanced shopping experience. In the latest update of their mobile app, customers can input up to four measurements—height, bust, waist and hip—for increased fit accuracy. “Finding the perfect fit online can be a challenge, and it was our goal to make this as easy as possible for our shoppers," explains Sarah Rose, vice-president of product at ModCloth.

Shoppers will also find in-depth customer reviews of the merchandise selection. "With Fit for Me, we found a way to leverage this treasure trove of product review information [currently 80 percent of styles boast reviews, 55 percent of which detail fit] to help our customers," Rose continues. "We’ve [even] heard from our community members that this feature has not only helped them to quickly sort through products likely to fit them, but that they’ve also been able to discover items that might not have normally caught their attention."

(ModCloth)ModCloth establishes customer loyalty by engaging users to share their fashion experiences through other site features as well. Their Style Gallery, for instance, allows users to upload photos of themselves in their purchases to "provide style inspiration to our community." Ultimately, the Kogers' vision is to revolutionize fashion.

Want to join their "inclusive" community? Here's what it takes: "She engages with our brand, and we use the information she gives us to influence the merchandise we carry and to create a more relevant and personalized experience," concludes Rose. "Every time she returns, she knows her contributions have made a difference. She feels a sense of ownership and excitement, starting the cycle over again." Click here to download the ModCloth app.
