(Art by Tanya Leigh Washington)Admit it: Even though you know it's wrong, there's something gratifying about popping a pimple. Since we know how hard it is to resist giving a nasty zit a squeeze (we're guilty too), we asked Dr. Eric S. Schweiger, a board-certified dermatologist and founder of
Clear Clinic acne treatment center in New York City, for advice on what to do when our pore excavations go awry. We're willing to bet his skin saver is already sitting in your medicine cabinet.

I tell all of my acne patients to avoid 'bathroom surgery' at all costs—this is when a pimple appears and the patient picks at it, causing a small wound. However, if a patient didn't listen, I recommend putting Aquaphor on the scratched pimple as it heals. The ointment will help keep bacteria out and also speed up wound healing."
