Style the Bump: Jessie James Decker
For this country singer, it's all about looking cute and feeling comfy.
Jessie James Decker has what we'd call a pretty full plate. The singer-songwriter is currently balancing a country music career with mommy duties to Vivianne Rose, her adorable one-year-old daughter with hubby (and NFL hunk) Eric Decker. And she's got two major projects in the pipeline. First up: Kittenish by Kora Rae, Decker's collection of signature flannels, cutoffs, rompers and more for contemporary line Kora Rae (look out for it this June). Then, this fall, she'll welcome baby #2 into the Decker family. (Check out her sweet Instagram announcement, here).
We grabbed a few moments of the busy mama's time to chat favorite maternity brands, fitness routines and the key to a comfy pregnancy.
How would you describe your pregnancy style?
"Comfortable always! I choose comfort over style usually. As long as you have good hair and makeup, you can look like a bum and rock it."
What are your favorite bump-friendly silhouettes?
"I pretty much rock all silhouette types during my pregnancies. I am so proud of my bump that I am all about rocking my tight tee shirts and jersey dresses and sweaters. My favorites are from Jessica Simpson's maternity line and A Pea in the Pod."
What style lessons did you learn during your first pregnancy that you're applying to this one?
"I learned to actually get maternity clothes and to stop trying to just squeeze into my non-pregnancy clothes! I learned the hard way by being very uncomfortable with leggings digging into my belly. I just ordered a bunch of new maternity leggings."
But do you still incorporate non-pregnancy styles into your look?
"Yes. I love jersey dresses! I designed a few in my new line Kittenish for Kora Rae. They are very mommy-friendly and so comfortable. They are not necessarily maternity but they are so stretchy that all women can wear them. That was really important to me to add last minute to the collection when I found out I was pregnant! I lived in jersey stretch dresses with Viv."
Let's talk pregnancy beauty. Any weird changes to your skin or hair?
"During this pregnancy, my skin sucks! I am getting little weird bumps from all the hormones. I keep trying to moisturize and exfoliate. With Vivianne, I didn't have that at all."
Well, you look amazing! Are you adhering to any workout routine?
"I take walks around the neighborhood with the dogs, Vivi and Eric. It's nice and not too hard on my body. I hate working out with a passion so this is a good, healthy compromise."
