Old fashioned country fans didn't love Miranda Lambert's new marriage, and not only because they missed Lambert being a power couple with Blake Shelton. It appeared that Lambert's new husband, NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin, had a complicated backstory.

The two married in 2019 after dating for only three months. Even more non-traditional, McLoughlin turned out to be seven years younger than Lambert, and a few days after he met Lambert, he welcomed his first child with his ex-partner. But before he became a father, he was dating pro soccer player Jackie Bruno, who broke off their engagement after discovering he got another woman pregnant. It was a lot to take in, but it appeared that Lambert was fine with it.
