Hank Williams III Vs. Kid Rock
Hank Williams Jr. is Hank Williams III's father, but he had a very touch-and-go presence in his son's childhood. Hank III was primarily raised by his mother, and would only see his father sporadically throughout the years. That's why Hank III got fired up when his father called Kid Rock his "rebel son" after collaborating with him on a few songs.
This sparked reports that Kid Rock was Williams Jr.'s biological son, and it became one of those rumors that were repeated over and over again until folks believed it.
While tabloid hearsay might not have upset Hank III at first, he did take offense when interviewers started to ask him about his "brother Kid Rock." This eventually led Hank III to write the single “Not Everybody Likes Us."
The lyrics read: “Just so you know, so it’s set in stone, Kid Rock don’t come from where I come from. Yeah it’s true he’s a Yank, he ain’t no son of Hank, and if you thought so... you’re dumb.”
