Even when we think we know what to expect from The Mindy Project, Mindy Kaling throws us a curveball (take an angry Chrissy Teigen popping up on last night's episode for example). From finally falling in love with Danny only to move across the country and enter into a long-distance relationship to showing off unexpected accessories, we never know what the writer and actress has up her fabulous sleeves. Let us count more of our favorite stylish moments of the season so far:

1. Mindy Goes Back to College

The New Yorker's recent move to Stanford has offered up a more subdued side of her colorful closet, and we're loving her collegiate-inspired ensembles, complete with preppy headbands and designer backpacks, as of late.

2. Special Guest Stars

Julia Stiles surprised us as Morgan's (Ike Barinholtz) love interest on the show's holiday episode, and last night our style crush Chrissy Teigen showed off her tough side in a hilarious, jealousy-fueled throw down.

3. Her Anti-LBD Collection

A new take on professional attire is one thing, but the queen of color will never lose her love for lustrous shades and textures. While we saw her giving Danny's preferred LBDs a go in the beginning of the season, Mindy proudly flaunts her glam-infused formal frocks for date nights and the holidays—not to mention one unfortunate Legally Blonde moment last week.

I’ve learned that her little black dress is never going to be black."

4. On-Set Inside Jokes

Back in New York City, it appears someone has been raiding Mindy's closet. The resident receptionist Beverly (Beth Grant) has not-so-subtly been sneaking the exact same bold pieces we've seen on the leading lady in previous seasons.

5. Sportier Sentiments

But if Kaling's signature glitz and glam aren't really your thing, leave it to Tamra (Xosha Roquemore) for a more casual, athletic vibe on and off the clock. The show's costume designer Salvador Perez, who is also a brand ambassador for Baby-G watches, explained to us why the accessory is perfect for her: "I would love to put Tamra in jewels, but I can't because she's a nurse, working with chemicals, etc. I can [however] put her in an accessory that is both functional—you believe the character would wear it for the job—and fashionable. The little bright pop of color also looks great on camera." Shop her staple here.

6. Pretty in Plaid

‘90s-inspired trends are (still) everywhere. Rather than adhering to the returning grunge scene, the leading lady has worked plaid—and overalls—into her wardrobe with sophisticated sheaths and fashion-forward separates.
