The night we've all been waiting for finally arrived — the 91st Annual Academy Awards. Award season has been building up to this celebration, and we were not disappointed with what it delivered.
Each year, the award show recognizes the top players and contributors in film, given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). The show honors everyone from sound mixers and editors, to actors and actresses, and screenwriters and directors. And let's not forget the most coveted award — Best Picture.
Though the first show occurred in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, this year's award show went down at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on February 24, 2019. A Star is Born had nine nominations to its name, including Best Actor for Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga for Best Actress. Vice had eight nominations, Black Panther had seven, BlacKkKlansman had six, and Bohemian Rhapsody trailed with five. It was a huge night for so many blockbuster flicks.
Now that we have the films and nominations covered, can we talk about everyone who attended? As always, there wasn't a shortage of amazing red carpet looks, because if there is one carpet that's to be taken seriously, it's this one. This year's Oscars brought out our favorite couples, like Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet, as well as Mahershala Ali and Amatus Sami-Karim. One of the presenters of the night, Jennifer Lopez, arrived with her beau Alex Rodriguez, and even Marie Kondo made an appearance with her husband.
