We love the smiles on the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Here the couple is visiting the Outward Bound School for Boys at Aberdovey in Wales in August 1963.

The Queen is the most widely traveled head of state, which makes sense considering transportation was a little more limited before the second half of the 20th century. As part of their royal duties, the royal family often visits places within the Commonwealth, and other non-Commonwealth countries as well.
