13. Ostrich Ragoût
Royals usually had eccentric tastes, and in Ancient Rome it appeared they loved to eat ostrich. The animals were thought to be as rare as elephants, so having one at a feast was seen as a big deal. In that particular recipe, an ostrich would be boiled whole, and then served in one piece with herbs, seeds, and fish.
