29. Deadly Hair Bleaches
Thanks to Old Hollywood, it was extremely popular to have bleached blonde hair in the '30s. In fact, Jean Harlow was known for her platinum locks, which she dyed white with a combination of Clorox, peroxide, ammonia, and Lux flakes. The mixture produced a toxic gas that - after years of use - eventually ended up killing her.
