The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards saw stars sizzle on the red carpet in looks that lived up to the show's statement-making reputation. Speaking of reputation, Taylor Swift was one of the first to arrive, and she kept all eyes on her in a colorful Versace getup complete with thigh-high bedazzled boots.

Held for the first time at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, the star-studded event saw a number of celebs gather in their glitziest outfits to watch performers such as Lizzo, Zara Larsson, and more take the stage. As you might expect from one of the most daring red carpet events of the year, the looks did not disappoint. From barely-there dresses to full-on gowns, casual top-and-trouser combos to more formal ensembles, we totally enjoyed the sartorial display on the carpet!

Swift, who was nominated for 10 awards, led the pack with the trend of the night: color. Other stars such as Keke Palmer and Lizzo followed suit in their vibrant ensembles. Actress Ilfenesh Hadera demoed how to wear silver in a sleek mini-dress while Zara Larsson had a princess moment in a pale pink gown.
