17. Rihanna In Giorgio Armani, 2012
Rihanna looked like a femme fatale in 2012 when she showed up to the Grammys wearing a custom made gown by Giorgio Armani. The silk confection had a plunging neckline, an open back that dipped low to her hips, and a central split. She actually co-designed the dress with Armani himself, and she cited Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface as the inspiration behind the gown.

"It's simple and sexy and 'Scarface'-inspired," the 23-year-old artist told Ryan Seacrest at the time. "[Armani] trusts my designs a little bit now." At the time, Rihanna had a budding working relationship with Armani. She was the face of Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani underwear, and was about to release the first of two capsule collections she designed for the Italian label.

Rihanna matched the dress with dainty, stomach-grazing necklaces and Christian Louboution heels, and changed her hair to cinch the "bombshell" look. That night was the first time that the artist debuted her blonde hair, delightfully surprising fans by walking her honey-colored locks down the red carpet. While it was her first time experimenting with the shade, she would only keep the look for six weeks before coloring her hair jet black.

While she wasn't nominated for any awards that evening, Rihanna did perform on the big stage. She took to the microphone to perform her collaborative song with Coldplay, "Princess of China."
