Elizabeth Banks in Mary Katranzou, 2012
Some looks are so avant-garde that it's so risky to wear them. This Mary Katranzou gown is one of those looks. Between the clashing prints, the oversized peplum waist, and the capelet detail, this dress had a lot going on. But then again, this was the Met Gala and the fashion-forward Elizabeth Banks could totally pull it off. In the end, it turned out to be one of the most memorable looks of the night.

The actress finished off the dress with simple black heels, a red clutch, and a classic updo.
