Carey was nominated for Best Actress at the 2021 Oscars and she shined on the red carpet in this Valentino crop-top ball gown. On an Instagram post, Valentino described the look as "an organdi cuivre dress entirely embroidered with iridescent sequins with pearl reflections," which required "350 hours of work by hand."

The actress topped off her outfit with a simple chignon. And for her accessories, she wore Cartier tourmaline and sapphire earrings as well as Stuart Weitzman heels (which were impossible to see under all that fabric).
