Cate's pastel Givenchy dress was definitely the most-talked-about style of the night at the 2011 Academy Awards. While the reactions were mixed, we liked the gown's imaginative design with its boxy bodice and unusual color combo — definitely not the usual gown you see on Oscars night.
In an interview with InStyle, the actress said, "It was so architectural, and the breast piece is made all out of elastic...I was tempted to wear it two ways, because if you take the top part off, it’s a really simple halter dress underneath. I thought the external piece was so unusual."
