Kerry Washington made quite the scandalous statement in her Altuzarra pre-fall 2020 ensemble at the Golden Globes. The actress stepped out on the red carpet in a two-piece outfit that featured a black blazer, silk thigh-baring skirt, and a knotted chain worn as a harness. She completed the look with her signature blunt bob, striking red lip, and silver sandals. Washington’s latest getup is definitely a departure from her 2018 Globes look, when she wore a strapless Prabal Gurung gown with sequins that she styled with pointed ankle boots.

For the first time, the star worked with famed stylist, Law Roach, for her Golden Globes look — and she did not disappoint. Fun fact: the pair went through 20 dresses until they found the Altuzarra set. Roach, who is also the stylist for Celine Dion and Zendaya, spoke to InStyle about the daring outfit. “It’s really... incredible. It’s so modern, and it speaks to how cool Kerry is.... It's just me, wanting to take risks, wanting to do something new, wanting [the look] to feel how I think my girls will feel on the inside. I’m just excited to work with Kerry. [The Golden Globes] is a big one, so you get a little bit nervous, you know?”
