The Most Daring Dresses Of The Year
4.
Cate Blanchett At The 2020 Golden Globes
If you want daring, look no further than Cate Blanchett's gown. She took a big risk in a Mary Katrantzou gown and some people loved it while others definitely didn't.
Elle put the gown on their best-dressed list, at No. 2, writing: "Speaking of angels, Cate Blanchett wore literal wings. She led the trend of balloon sleeves at the award show, complete with a jeweled bodice and matching canary yellow shoes."
Twitter had a blast with the dress, though. Some compared her dress to ruffled potato chips, while others said she looked like "a wicker chair from CB2." Ack.
Blanchett used the night to draw attention to the horrible fires in Australia. She said onstage: “There are a lot of Australians in the room tonight. I know we are all very grateful for the call-outs to our fellow compatriots who are suffering under the bushfires, so thank you.
I wanted to do a special call-out to the volunteer firefighters who have been at the center of battling the climate disaster that is facing Australia.
And of course, when one country faces a climate disaster, we all face a climate disaster, so we’re in it together, so thank you very much.”
