Wow, look at the size of that ring! Wondering how big it actually is? 19.77-carats to be exact. It's an emerald, by the way. The ring was given to Wallis Simpson by the former King, Edward VIII on October 27, 1936. It has "27 X 36" engraved on the inside of the band to celebrate the day (the 27th day of the 10th month of 1936). 

The relationship between Edward VIII and Wallis caused major controversy, and Edward ended up abdicating because he was forbidden from marrying Wallis, as she was an American divorcée. His younger brother, George VI, then became King.
