Trend to Try: Edgy Pearls

We wore a pair of studs every day, and a strand around our neck on special occasions (church, graduation luncheons, keggers). Then we moved to the city and relegated the classic styles to the back of our jewelry box.

But in the past few months, the pearl is popping up on our radar again—albeit in decidedly funkier forms. Chanel sent out chokers adorned with Gobsmacker-sized beauties; Christian Dior debuted double-sided pearl studs, since spotted on Jessica Alba and Emma Watson. And a bevvy of other style stars have taken up sporty prim-meets-punky pearl baubles along the way.

Take Sophia Bush, for instance: She recently hit the red carpet in serpentine drop pearl earrings and pearl-encrusted sandals.
