25. Inflatable Brassieres
The inflatable bra was introduced in 1952, and promised to give women the "perfect contour." Women were encouraged to wear the bra with casual wear, formal gowns, and even bathing suits. The cups had small pockets made from lightweight vinylite plastic that could be inflated with a straw, and it promised to be lighter than heavily padded bras.
