In their interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan and Harry revealed that they had a commitment ceremony three days prior to their wedding on May 19. 

“You know, three days before our wedding, we got married. No one knows that. The vows that we have framed in our room are just the two of us in our backyard with the Archbishop of Canterbury," Meghan told Oprah. It was not legally binding but was a beautiful way for the couple to exchange their vows away from the public eye.
