Why It Works: Fearne Cotton's London Look Fearne Cotton (PCN)
DJ Fearne Cotton needn’t dress to impress for her day job at Radio One, but given she’s also a style page regular, there’s clearly no rest for the well-heeled.

Seen here talking business on her cell phone (we’re guessing the conversation revolves around spring’s hottest jean cut, or British preoccupations, like whether the new season of Mad Men will air simultaneously to its debut in the US) Cotton has nailed the tricky meta-season between winter and spring with aplomb.

The Coat: Cotton’s ruffled, cropped bell sleeve camel number resides firmly in real-life doll territory. The oversized single button and overlapping Peter Pan collar keep it fashion forward rather than cutesy.

The Dress: A peak of white knit, here, Cotton’s frock is left to the imagination, but that ghostly accent is all that’s needed to up the sexy quotient.

The Shoes: Brogues. Brogues that yell “look at me! I’m no ordinary leather situation.” Indeed, there’s nothing run-of-the-mill about these two-toned tassled shoes. Paired with black tights and mint green nails, the effect is coolest girl at prep school.
