Why It Works: January Jones

Why It Works: January Jones January Jones (Fame/Flynet Pictures)

Rocking that trademark Betty Draper scowl, January Jones stole our polka-dot-loving fashion hearts in a decidedly modern take on Jackie O she threw together for lunch at Los Feliz neighborhood fave Little Dom’s.

The Hat: We could’ve sworn Don brought this on that L.A. vacay in season two, but we might have to give the “who wore it better” to Jones on this occasion. Topping off the actress’ swingy flaxen bob, the summery straw fedora has a smooth-looking-criminal-goes-sailing appeal.

The Sweater: A smile-inducing, sex kitten–friendly work of wool with a retro bent. Like something Anne Margaret might have worn in Bye Bye Birdie. The sort of sweater you always wish to find at vintage stores in place of those Kurt Cobain–looking ones.

The Shoes: There’s something hard to pin down but very cool about Jones’ neutral flats. Like her Chukka Boots and Repetto ballet flats had an elegant little down-to-earth shoe baby.

The Bag: It doesn’t get more ladylike than this gold plated Prada tote. Sure, it won’t be doing Jones any favors in the “convincing people she’s not an entitled ice princess in real life” department, but, um, have you seen it? File under: Worth it.
