5 Things to Know About Newly Single Miss Piggy
She's a sow on the prowl after her split from Kermit the Frog.
While Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's divorce announcement rocked Hollywood earlier this week, their big news was quickly overshadowed by another split: Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog.
The unlikely frog-pig duo was together for nearly 40 years (!) and they announced the demise of their relationship Tuesday in a very official Twitter statement:
Kermit, who said Piggy made his life "bacon-wrapped hell on Earth," also revealed that he's moved on with another pig named Denise. As if! Luckily Piggy seems to be handling it well — though she'd really like some ice cream.
We know Miss Piggy will continue being fabulous, even without her amphibious other half. The newly single sow is our woman crush pick of the week and here's what you need to know about her as this next chapter unfolds:
1. Her career comes first.
Miss Piggy is NOT letting her personal life get in the way of her acting aspirations. These two now join the long list of celebs who continued working together after their breakup, as Kermit is still producing his former flame's new show. "I have no problem working with my ex, okay? It's fine," Piggy told reporters earlier this week.
We don't know too much about this exciting new role, but we do know that she'll be fantastically over-the-top and have a flawless wardrobe.
2. She's a 'feminist pig.'
Miss Piggy was awarded the Sackler Center First Award in 2015 and she explained why she deserved the award in a Time magazine article titled "Miss Piggy: Why I Am a Feminist Pig."
Here's a rather poignant excerpt:
"As a young woman born on a farm, I was told that my life would be nothing but mud, sweat and tears … and the occasional trip to the 4-H fair. Now that may have been enough for some, but not for moi. I refused to accept someone else’s definition of my life and my future. I knew there was something bigger and better out there — and that I could achieve it if I never, ever gave up. Thanks to grit, fortitude, perseverance, the inspiration of other great feminists and the aforementioned karate, I did in fact achieve those dreams. Today, I live in Hollywood, where there is still a lot of mud, sweat and tears, but the hours and compensation are much more attractive."
3. She's pals with Dolly Parton
Back in the day, Piggy tried to get her country music career going and made an appearance on the country legend's show, Dolly. They sang "I'm a Hog For Your Love," naturally.
Since then, the gals have partnered plenty of other times.
4. She has a dog named Foo Foo.
We imagine her adorable pup is giving her lots of puppy snuggles in this difficult time.
5. Her style game has come a long way.
Miss Piggy is as flawless as the first day she met Kermit, even though we have to say that her hair has improved over time, as evident in this #TransformationTuesday snapshot.
